At Kichijitsu, we value the natural character of leather and use fine dye-finished cowhide tanned with vegetable tannins.

Three types are mainly used in our workshop: "Minerva Liscio," "Minerva Box" and "Buttero."

Minerva Liscio
Cowhide made with traditional methods in Tuscany, Italy.
It is carefully finished using vegetable tannins and beef tallow.
It features a supple texture that settles into your hand and a moderate firmness. With use, its color deepens and changes into a beautiful, translucent luster.
Rich in oil, it is easy to care for day to day and lets you enjoy rich aging.

Minerva Box
Leather based on Minerva Liscio and milled in a drum.
It features a fine grain on the surface and a plump, soft feel.
The grain makes scratches less noticeable, which is another appeal for everyday use.
Its color and luster deepen with use, and like Minerva Liscio, it ages beautifully.

Buttero
Cowhide tanned with 100% vegetable tannins at an Italian tannery.
Its fibers are densely packed, giving it a firm, taut and resilient texture.
The surface is strong and relatively scratch-resistant, with vivid color and the translucency unique to a dye finish.
It ages relatively slowly, but with long use it gradually develops a deep luster.

Even among cowhides, the feel, character and way of aging differ.

KICHIJITSU chooses leathers that make the most of each material's individuality and change together with the people who use them.
