During the two and a half years in the bag design department, students learn about the structures and manufacturing methods of various bags, repeating the basics and applying them.

For example, if the theme is "Oval sole", everyone will first make a bag with the same basic shape.

After learning the basics, each student goes on to create an oval-sized bag with an original design.

In this way, by repeatedly making bags with a number of structures, from the basics to advanced techniques, you will eventually be able to create the basic bag pattern.

Looking back now, I think it was a very logical and well-considered study method.

As long as they had completed their assignments, they were free to use equipment such as sewing machines after school.

So I always stayed at school late and made whatever I wanted, regardless of the assignments.

Also, the fact that I went to school in Shinjuku was a very convenient environment for me at the time.

There was a Tokyu Hands store near the station, which had all the materials and tools needed for leather crafts, so I was in good hands.

If I still couldn't find what I needed, I would ask permission from my teacher and go to the Asakusa area to buy some.

Thinking about it now, I learned techniques at school, made whatever I wanted after school, and wandered around Shinjuku and Asakusa looking for the materials I needed.

Every day like that may have led to me becoming the person I am today.
