About leather | Episode 1

Up until now I have only written about my career, so this time I would like to change the topic a little and write about leather.
Since I work as a leather craftsman, leather is of course the most familiar material to me.
Before becoming independent, I worked at a trading company specializing in imported leather, and through my work I was exposed to leather from all over the world.
I think it's the same with everything, but I think leather is a material that shows the national character of the country.
Of course, this is just my personal opinion, so please read this with an understanding that there are other views.
Now, I would like to introduce the leathers that I have come into contact with in my work, based on images of each country.
italy
It is truly the home of the leather industry.
Crafts using leather have been popular in Italy since the Middle Ages, and the culture of leather craftsmen has been passed down for a long time in places such as Florence.
With such a long history, it is still known worldwide as a production area for leather products and leather materials.
There are many materials that have a leather-like appeal, and I love them myself, so I use them mainly at acca bottega.
The world-famous leather trade fair ``Lineapelle'' is also held twice a year in Milan.
I've been there many times, and the venue is huge and there's a lot of leather.
At first, I was excited and thought, "There's such a leather!", but as I was looking at it, I started to see that they all looked like the same leather (lol).
"Italian leather" is popular these days, but in the past, it used to have a lot of oil and a light finish, so the roughness of the leather was noticeable.
As a result, I've heard that Italian leather, which is expensive, has a hard time selling compared to domestically produced leather.
He's very popular now.
france
Like Italy, it is a country with many super brands and a thriving leather industry.
Leather products such as horse harnesses, shoes, and gloves have been made in France since ancient times, and a culture of high-quality leather products has developed with customers such as royalty and aristocrats.
I believe that this tradition is connected to the current French luxury leather industry.
However, when I compare only the leather materials, I have a vivid and elegant image of them.
While Italian leather has a somewhat masculine feel, French leather has a feminine feel.
That's the impression I get.
Of course, this is completely my subjective opinion (lol).
This time around.
Next time I will write about British and German leather.
Continue.
